1) Task check:assessment criterion

  • Reflecting on reading

  • ‘theoretical inquiry’

  • Critically discuss selection of reading

  • Flecting on the roll the reading had on your practice

  • Criticality of a theoretical inquiry and insight into its role in the candidates practice as evidenced in the research essay

  • Main words: criticality and insight

  • Sources are credible

  • Being critical by realising what sources are useful to you and what's not

  • Comparisons, evaluation.

  • Position on a subject, on what bases are we reading this stuff and how it is relevant to us. Talk about where you stand.

  • Referencing

  • Position connected to practice

  • How do you make make a paragraph more critical? Don't report ideas, discuss them!!

  • Discus what the value in the material was for you

  • Don't just say what you understand, don't just state facts. Demonstrate insight.

  • says who? Say what? Really? Ask these questions

2) Essay form: introduction and conclusion

  • Conclusion is more of a reflective on such as how that thinking had helped though your research and practice

  • Can have sub themes and topics

  • Start by saying something in general about what the essay covers

  • State position in intro and conclusion

  • How this information influences the practice

  • “this writing is about…”

  • What essay is about generally and how it connects to position/practice

  • Points to different categories that will be discussed in the essay and how they relate to each other

  • Introduction is over view

  • Form is quite open
