Possible install options
It is very difficult to know how I will be installing because I don't know what space I am in so can't go and check what is available in the space to use. I need to know as I am hanging my pieces for the ceiling. So to make most of my time now I have investigated a few options:
wooden dowel: This is what I was originally going to use and that is why I set up all my strands for my bead curtains on eyelet screws so I could just screw them into the wood. I also thought of the options of painting it white to match the floors and ceilings so that it becomes less noticeable but then wood and white paint becomes questionable in my material research.
Plastic dowel: This was suggested because the beads I am using look plastic (they are glass beads). My concern is that the plastic wont be firm enough to hold up the weight of the beads and would buckle distorting the length of the strands and the overall look of the curtains.
steel/metal dowel: This would be great because it is strong but once again the materiality will be questioned because it does not appear anywhere else in my project. It is also a problem because I won't be able to screw they eyelet screws into it.
Hang it string by string: This would look quite nice but it would be incredibly difficult to get the strings the exact same length and would also be a very time consuming way to install and I am already short on time. It would also require me to take the already made strands off of the eyelet hooks and retie them. I do think this would look best but it is also up to me if I want the strands grouped together with a dowel or if just having them in the same space is adequate.
Get an actual curtain rod from spotlight and install that - it is a more professional look and references the object itself.
